Boot Hike

Mirage patrol took part in the district boot hike competition on the 15th and 16th of February. We did really well we place 3rd. Well done to everyone who took part and made it a really great competition.

Mirage flight went on an air scout camp to Kitty Hawk Airfield on the 8th and 9th of February.

Here the airscouts were able to marshal planes. Everyone had a blast.

The Mirage flight leader was fortunate enough to go up in a Jabario. This was a great experience for the airscouts.

Senior Scout visit to Missionary Aviation Fellowship

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is a non-profit organisation (NPO) operating a fleet of more than 135 aircraft in about 30 countries in the developing world.  

The Senior Air Scouts of our Air Scout Group were invited to visit MAF on Saturday 2nd November to view their aircraft, attend a talk on how to plan distribution of weight on their aircraft and hear about some of the interesting missions that they have done. 

Mark Liprini (pilot for MAF) also made it possible for the Air Scouts to visit the Lanseria Control Centre, the Lanseria Fire Station and finally the Lanseria Air Traffic Control.

Hike at Hennops

Mirage flight went on a first class hike this weekend at Hennops hiking trail. Thank you too all the guys that came and helped out. We all had an awesome time. The flight had river crossing and caves that they could explore. Thank you to everyone for the help and for coming along and joining me.

Meals on wheels

Mirage flight took part in a multi compo in our troop where we had to cook a potjie in a wheel barrow while pushing it around the area do bases and activities. Well done to mirage you did extremely well.

District Boot Hike

Mirage patrol took part in the North Rand District boot hike. My patrol did very well and we finished 4th in the district and the Mirage patrol leader was the top patrol leader for this event. Well done to the Mirage patrol

Kim Shield 2013

On the the 9th and 10th of March, Mirage patrol took part in Kim Shield and placed in the top ten. I would like to congratulate them on doing that as there was 60 patrols that took part out of the province.

BP Sunday 2013

On Sunday 24 February 2013, Harmelia Gardens Air Scout Troop hosted the annual BP Sunday celebrations. I would like to say thank everyone who made that day all possible.

PLTU 2012

On the 28th of December last year two of our Troop members took part in a Patrol Leadership course (PLTU) that lasted 10 days. I would like to congratulate them on passing the course and making our Troop very proud.

Winter Camp

Two of the mirage patrol members took part in the second provincal winter camp at Gilwell, Florida on the 1 to the 6 of July. The two participants were Carl Holmes and Gavin Butler. I just want to say thank you for coming on the camp and i hope that you had fun and learnt lots of new things.

Kim Shield 2012

Mirage patrol took part in the annual Kim Shield which happens once the year and this year was the time that they did it in an urban area. this took place on the 21st to the 22nd of April. this was our first time that we have taken part in this competition and we came fourth over all and was the top in the North Rand District. I also want to say well done to all the patrol member that took part in this competition.

Paintball

Mirage patrol did a patrol activity today at Paintball City in Germiston. Thank you to all the patrol members that joined me for the paintball, that we did today and I hope you all had loads of fun and hopefully we can go sometime and do it again. I think that this was a clever team building exercise for the patrol and thank you to the troop scouters for joining us for this activity.

 

CANSA Relay for life

Mirage patrol took part in the CANSA Relay for life on the 9th of March. We were very proud to have the opportunity to help the CANSA organisation, this all took place at Jeppe High School for boys and i am sure that all the scouts that came that night had a great time.
